Only good news if they employ a woman for the female toilets and a man for the mens unless they have strict regulations for entering loos of the opposite sex which do not breach the Sex Discrimination Act unlike motorway service stations and many other places!

While we all want clean toilets, cleaners should not be entering opposite sex toilets/washing facilities where people may be in a state of undress to clean or inspect while people are using them.
This is a violation of our privacy and dignity (under the Sex Discrimination Act) and cause severe embarrassment and dissress. It also puts young children, who may be able to go to a toilet by themselves, at risk because they may find themselves alone in a loo with a cleaner of the opposite sex who may not have been CRB checked.

There should be a robust policy in place to make sure cleaners do not walk in on people already using the facility when they turn up eg clear sign displaying times the cleaner will be visiting or a person of the appropriate sex to check no one is using the facility who might object.

Signs that only state an opposite sex worker is on duty but do not tell you when they will be in there effectively deny people their legal right to object to using a toilet/changing area in the presence of the opposite sex. This is for their convenience so that you have consented for the cleaner to come in whatever you are doing (eg man using urinals with no privacy guards) and is subversive sex discrimination against the service user. Complain if you find this happening as it is not safe practice for the cleaner or you or your child.

I also got caught up in the traffic last night (14th Spet 09), however it took me 2 hrs and 20 mins to travel from Newport to East Cowes. What surprised me most was that there appeared to be no police presence helping to keep the traffic following. OK, so there's only one road into East Cowes and there's not much the police can do about that, but traffic coming down Lushington Hill and turning right at the roundabout blocked all the lanes. Beatrice Avenue being closed from Crossways didn't help either, local traffic could have at least used this route. There are a lot of questions that last night raised for me, mainly what went wrong? With Waitrose set to come to East Cowes how much more traffic can East Cowes cope with? There does need to be more adequate provision for marshalling cars at Red Funnel and at least one other fixed route in/out of East Cowes.

I could have sworn you had a hat rack in the hall last
time i was there. we are also decluttering as you know
but can we have the old one for my growing collection
of groovy hats.

Also forgot to add that Ikea charge you 80p for using
your credit / debit card. that can't be right can it?!

They must make an absolute fortune each day.

Had exactly the same trapped experience a couple of months back. Did buy some super size wine glasses and had to wrap them myself - it's the Ikea way.

I used to use my willing slave brother to bring me stuff from Milton Keynes - he won't go for that now - ought to be de-cluttering anyway.

But where will we put our hats when we get invited over!!! Shock horror.

Well, actually was surrounded by annoying people in the cafe eating meatballs and chips. Thought the choice was simple, namely, head for the exit!

I had a similar experience , getting my cd storage rack
which i had to carry for about 1/2 mile as couldn't get to
Ikea car park cos of traffic.
My advice, stay clear or next time take the stairs which are
empty of superfamily + superkids looking for a bargain !
yuk.... the meatballs i thought were expensive at £3.50
per bag and of course not organic!
