I realise that two articles about Ventnor in a row is rather treading on Ventnorblog’s territory, but as a music lover of limited finances I ventured along to the Mill Bay Inn to partake of some free fringe music, hosted by Mick Smith of Quay Arts. I was treated to a performance by Third Man, very enjoyable easy going, latin tinged jazz. They attracted quite a crowd, playing for about an hour and finishing with their interpretation of a John Coltrane number (don’t ask me which one!), an ambitious and satisfying piece of modern jazz. If you’d like to visit the festival, further details can be found at www.ventnorblog.com or www.iowjazzfestival.co.uk

Glad to hear you were down Ventnor way. If you’re down again today, drop us a mail and we can meetup.
Thanks Simon (of Ventnorblog)
It would be great to meet up sometime, sadly have other commitments today, would have liked to have another crack at the fringe though.
Somehow i missed the point. Probably lost in translation
Anyway … nice blog to visit.
cheers, Encamp

I see that you have limited finances……..and like to listen to free music, and not pay for meals you order.
I expect this is why you are happy to promote a Jazz Festival where the artists don’t get paid.
Why don’t you start a website with advice for people who like to get away with not having to pay for anything??
That’s something you would be very good at?
Engage brain Janet, yes I like free music, no I didn’t buy any tickets from the Jazz Festival organisers, but I did provide the Mill Bay Inn with my custom and had the pleasure of meeting Babs, promoter of Third Man, who was also very happy with the exposure that the band got from the gig. I also think it is appalling if artistes don’t get paid. I assume the reference to not paying for meals ordered is in relation to my post entitled ‘Bad service at Island Cafe’, I’d hate you to be slurring the reputation of any venues associated with the Jazz Festival by raising it in relation to this item.
