Festival wish list

After the relative anti-climax of The Police and a denial by John Giddings that Led Zeppelin would grace the stage, I’ve been musing on possible lineups:

… the public toilet in the Cut, Cowes, is no more.  Scene of massed nocturnal gatherings and alleged drug dealing, the crowds will have to go elsewhere.  Think I’d rather be at home with a mug of Earl Grey than frequenting urine stenched conveniences;  maybe it’s my age!

As I passed Powys House Residential Home in East Cowes at 19:30 today, there was a fire engine plus the foam unit vehicle in attendance and the property was taped off.  Trust it to be a time when my camera was at home (I never learn);  on my return the incident was obviously over, though [...]

The lights work!

Passing the revamped Koan outside St.Mary’s Hospital, I was delighted to see that the lights now work.  I’m waiting for a full feature from the County P*ss praising the work undertaken!

Island Harbour is a hive of activity these days;  what with the development of luxury waterside properties with their own moorings and an apparent revamp of the harbour facilities.  The Bistro has been rebuilt and there is a feelgood factor about the harbour, though there is clearly plenty of work going on.

Here we have the Meadow Road shops, on the Vectis Road estate in East Cowes.  As you can see, Meadow Stores is shut and up for sale, the Post Office is also scheduled for closure.  Again this largely affects the less privileged who will have a good 10-15 minute walk to get to alternative facilities, [...]
