Walking along near Egypt Point today, there was a great commotion, with a shoal of mackerel continually splashing and leaping accompanied by the cry of terns speculatively diving but apparently without success. Despite appalling downpours yesterday, our island still looked beautiful at times and I was drawn to stop the car and take this view towards the downs above Wroxall. As a mountain lover, I’m used to the peaks being clad; it’s unusual to see the higher places clear of the worst of the weather.
